译文
你曾经就任西畿县县令，三年下来，马不生膘。为偿还高筑的债台，只好把佩剑卖了，任满还乡时，也仅仅是满载车书而归。现在冒着边关风雪远游朔方，衣衫单薄，难御寒风。此去就住在灵州的一个角落，每日早上可以听到报晓的号角，平时也没有什么客人来往。
注释
明府：唐人对县令的尊称。灵武：即灵州（治所在今宁夏灵武县）。
宰：主管。西畿县：唐长安西边的一个县。
“三年”句：这句说，邹明府为官清廉，在任三年连骑的马都没有吃肥。
“债多”句：这句说，为偿还高筑的债台，只好把佩剑卖了。“债多平剑与”，《嘉靖宁夏新志》等宁夏地方志作“债多凭剑与”， 此从《全唐诗》本。
“官满”句：这句说，官满卸任后，只有书籍了。
晓角：古代军中报晓的号角。

送邹明府游灵武鉴赏
此诗前两联刻画作者友人邹明府的形象。首联说，邹明府曾经在西畿县就任三年，勤于政务，衣食节俭，以至于马都没有长出来肥膘，更说明人没有贪污腐败，非常清廉。颔联是说，为偿还高筑的债台，只好把佩剑卖了。这句目的是为了说明他为官清廉，两袖清风。所以任满以后，没有搜刮民脂民膏，满载而归的仅有一车诗书。这说明了他的志向。后两联是作者的推测与想象。颈联说，如今他冒着边关风雪雪远游朔方，这一路狂风暴雪，路上都看不到他的踪迹，说明了其前程的艰险。大风吹来就掀起了他身上的睡衣，说明他衣衫简朴，没有什么锦衣华冠，更显得他大方，简朴，不拘小节。尾联是说，他到了灵州，每天早上能听得到报晓的号角声，家里的人客房根本没有开过，说明基本也没有什么人来往。这也是为了说明他深居简出，向往宁静，清远脱俗。
此诗所刻画的邹明府形象的主要特点是：清正廉洁。三年县令任满离去，马依旧瘦弱，随身相伴的还是那些书。如今冒雪远游朔方，前程艰险，单薄的衣衫哪抵得住透骨寒风。正是通过这些细节的刻画，展现了邹明府至清至廉的形象。
贾岛注重用字推敲，此诗也体现了这个特点。颈联的“藏”字运用拟人手法，描绘人行之迹很快便为大雪覆盖的边塞雪景，写景生动，颇有画意；一个“藏”字，已包含大雪纷飞、道路莫辨、行人稀少等多重意蕴。“透”字极为传神地展现了林间朔风砭人肌骨的穿透力，同时还隐含风急、天寒、衣单等内容，富有想象力和感染力。

贾岛（779～843年），字浪（阆）仙，唐代诗人。汉族，唐朝河北道幽州范阳县（今河北省涿州市）人。早年出家为僧，号无本。自号“碣石山人”。据说在洛阳的时候后因当时有命令禁止和尚午后外出，贾岛做诗发牢骚，被韩愈发现其才华。后受教于韩愈，并还俗参加科举，但累举不中第。唐文宗的时候被排挤，贬做长江主簿。唐武宗会昌年初由普州司仓参军改任司户，未任病逝。
