译文
巨鲸恣意翻腾，大海摇荡无宁。
妖孽吞云吐雾，遮蔽日月星辰。
魔头排污泄垢，腥及太虚浮云。
高祖动容顾盼，哀怜蒙灾子民。
降旨授权讨伐，首推孝恭出征。
孝恭手持长矛，歼灭公祏逆臣。
拨开层层迷雾，开辟郡邑海门。
朝野地平水静，夜缀明星天根。
太阳光芒四射，天空大地晴明。
红日普照万物，人间歌舞升平。
注释
隋末杜伏威曾起兵淮南。伏威自号总管，以辅公祏为长史。公元619年（武德二年），伏威降唐，诏授公祏淮南道行台尚书左仆射，封舒国公。公元623年（武德六年），伏威入朝，公祏诈以伏威之令欺哄众人叛变，八月，僭（jiàn）位称帝，国号宋。高祖命赵郡王李孝恭率诸将破之，传首京师。
沛：行动迅速。垠（yín银）：岸，引申为边际，尽头。
霓（ní）：副虹，位于主虹外侧，色带内红外紫。翳（yì异）：遮蔽。
垫昏：指百姓困于兵灾。
元臣：指赵郡王李孝恭。
脩鳞：巨鱼，鲸鱼，喻辅氏。脩：同“修”，长。截脩鳞：意谓李孝恭击败辅氏，字面意义是，除却鲸鱼的长鳞。
披攘：拨开。霿（méng萌）：同“雾”
天根：宿星氐（dǐ底）的别名，二十八宿之一。
羲（xī西）和：神话中太阳的御者，这里指太阳。乘：升、登。
赫炎：旱热。赫：红如火烧，炎：火光上腾。溥畅：普遍通畅。大钧：天，泛指自然界。

柳宗元（773年－819年），字子厚，唐代河东（今山西运城）人，杰出诗人、哲学家、儒学家乃至成就卓著的政治家，唐宋八大家之一。著名作品有《永州八记》等六百多篇文章，经后人辑为三十卷，名为《柳河东集》。因为他是河东人，人称柳河东，又因终于柳州刺史任上，又称柳柳州。柳宗元与韩愈同为中唐古文运动的领导人物，并称“韩柳”。在中国文化史上，其诗、文成就均极为杰出，可谓一时难分轩轾。
