译文
年轻的村姑身穿红衣，在梅子成熟的时候，下地插秧，她们前后相随，结伴而行。
一路上，唱着长歌和短歌，歌里唱出了她们的真情，唱出了心中的怨恨别离，别说这一片心意他不知。
注释
长相思：词牌名
初发黄梅：指梅子黄时。梅树早春开花，梅子立夏后熟，梅子黄时正是插秧时节。
歌诗：即歌曲，比喻以歌词唱别情。
休言：不要说。伊：他，指村女的情人。

这首词是蔡伸在农忙时节（春末夏初）所作，描写村女们思念情郎，结伴下田帮助插秧的场景。

长相思·村姑儿鉴赏
这是一首用平常口语描写闺情的词。上片写村姑们的穿着和黄梅时节结伴插秧的情景。身着红袖衣，成双成对的姑娘结伴插秧的场面，不难使人想见那劳动中有说有笑的快乐。这不仅反映出地方的风俗人情，也显示了她们的美丽、活泼、多情。特别是“双双女伴随”一句，既写出她们的互助友爱精神和女性的心理特征，而且渲染出一种亲热、热闹的气氛，表达出村姑们那种淳朴真挚的感情。
由插秧而引出唱山歌，这也是地方风俗。下片通过歌词唱出了与GREn/ target=_blank class=infotextkey>情人的离恨。“长歌诗”三句指明所唱山歌的形式、内容和情感。她们唱的长歌是首长诗，短歌是首短诗；不管是长歌短歌，都是以反映青年男女间的爱情为内容，集中表现出她们与GREn/ target=_blank class=infotextkey>情人的离愁别恨，揭示出作品的主题。结尾“休言伊不知”是料其GREn/ target=_blank class=infotextkey>情人必定知道姑娘心中的离愁，只是不来关心体贴她（们）罢了。因此她们的自我诉苦，委婉地流露出对GREn/ target=_blank class=infotextkey>情人不归的怨恨，也是对GREn/ target=_blank class=infotextkey>情人不体贴她们的责怪。可以想见她们是何等地思念GREn/ target=_blank class=infotextkey>情人啊！采用唱山歌的形式来倾诉相思之苦，与其他形式相比，又别具一番情趣。
以叙事的方法来写结伴插秧的村姑们，用唱山歌来传情，不仅显示她们性格的乐观开朗，而且又有着浓厚的地方色彩。感情质朴，语言节奏鲜明，富有民歌风味。

蔡伸（1088—1156）字伸道，号友古居士，莆田（今属福建）人，蔡襄孙。政和五年（1115）进士。宣和年间，出知潍州北海县、通判徐州。赵构以康王开大元帅幕府，伸间道谒军门，留置幕府。南渡后，通判真州，除知滁州。秦桧当国，以赵鼎党被罢，主管台州崇道观。绍兴九年（1139），起知徐州，改知德安府。后为浙东安抚司参谋官，提举崇道观。绍兴二十六年卒，年六十九。《宋史翼》有传。伸少有文名，擅书法，得祖襄笔意。工词，与向子諲同官彭城漕属，屡有酬赠。有《友古居士词》一卷。 存词175首。
