鹧鸪天·赏荷鉴赏
这首咏荷词描写的初秋时节，黄昏月下的荷塘月色。月下荷塘，清虚骚雅，暗香袭人，天光云影间，山容水态貌给人一种幽静温馨的氛围。
全词运笔极有层次。先写出了荷塘的总体风貌，“秀樾横塘十里香，水花晚色静年芳。”“秀樾”指稀疏的树影，“水花”则是指水中的荷花。清秀稀疏的树影环绕着十里横塘，入晚的荷芳幽静独立散发着芳香。此句在用杜甫《曲江对雨》诗中“城上春云覆苑墙，江亭晚色静年芳”，荷塘美景不禁让人留连不舍。“胭脂雪瘦熏沉水，翡翠盘高走夜光。”这句拉近了人们的视野，由远及近。写水中荷花，写花下荷叶。“胭脂雪”，苏有诗云“卧闻海棠花，泥污燕脂雪。”意红白相杂之色。“沉水”即沉香，闺房熏用。“夜光”借指荷叶上滚动的水珠。荷花飘香，水珠着色，不由使人向往如这般皎洁秀美的姑娘。这为上片。
下片则立意颇新，拉开镜头。写水边群山，写荷上明月，山黛空蒙，月波流转，倒蘸波间，融成一个清幽朦胧的境界。“山黛远，月波长，暮云秋影蘸潇湘。”黄庭坚有《西江月》，曰：“远山横黛蘸秋波”似与此同情。不由使人觉之“山眉水目，顾盼含情”的女子袅袅出现。“醉魂应逐凌波梦，分付西风此夜凉。”荷花又称为凌波仙子，语出曹植《洛神赋》，“灼若芙蓉出绿波，”“凌波微步，罗袜生尘，”故得名。面对荷花香艳，凉夜清风的美景，作者不由发概叹，良宵美景君应赏，别负青春美少年。
这首赏荷词，词风清韵，如月下荷塘，清新雅舒，暗香袭人。赏荷而不仅见荷，天光云影，山容水态皆入眼帘，而处处都烘托出一种赏荷时的恬淡温馨的气氛。遣词造句中，精挑细拣，“秀、静、瘦、远”字字含情。有人谓“莲体实肥，不宜言瘦”，（王若虚《滹南诗话》）并尝易“腻”字，意虽同物，而词境界全无。

蔡松年（1107～1159）字伯坚，因家乡别墅有萧闲堂，故自号萧闲老人。真定（今河北正定）人，金代文学家。宋宣和末从父守燕山，宋军败绩随父降金，天会年间授真定府判官。完颜宗弼攻宋，与岳飞等交战时，蔡松年曾为宗弼“兼总军中六部事”，仕至右丞相，封卫国公，卒谥“文简”。松年虽一生官运亨通，其作品在出处问题上却流露了颇为矛盾的思想感情。内心深处潜伏着的民族意识使他感到“身宠神已辱”，作品风格隽爽清丽，词作尤负盛名，与吴激齐名，时称“吴蔡体”，有文集《明秀集》传世。
