灵隐寺月夜创作背景
灵隐寺是人们熟悉的杭州一景，坐落在西湖西北的灵隐山麓，寺前冷泉飞度，古木苍深，不远处飞来峰如巨石飞坠，屹立寺门，环境幽静、清雅。这次诗人找了一个恰当的时间，踏着月光游山，全诗的韵味就在这月色当中。
灵隐寺月夜鉴赏
《灵隐寺月夜》是一首五言古体诗。灵隐寺，在杭州西湖西北灵隐山麓，附近有飞来峰、冷泉亭诸名胜，是西湖的游览胜地。“月夜”标题，可见这首诗描写的是灵隐寺的月夜景色。从诗中“夜寒”、“落叶”看，时间当在深秋。
首二句，“夜寒”点时间，在深秋的寒夜。“香界”，指佛寺。一个“白”字，未见其月，已见月光的皎洁。接着写透过寺门，可见曲折的山涧与寺门相连，一个清凉幽静的境地呈现在眼前。三、四句承上启下，抬头望“月在众峰顶”，可见月升中天，群峰相托；低头看“泉流乱叶中”，可见秋叶纷飞，泉水流淌。由静景而写到动态，以动衬静，更觉佛寺秋夜的静谧。四句读来，佛寺月夜，尽收眼底，俯仰之间，所见所感，妙趣横生。
五、六句先写进入佛寺。“一灯”指寺里的长明灯。“群动息”，语出陶渊明《饮酒》“日入群动息”，指一切都归于沉寂。“孤磬”指僧人夜里诵佛经的击磬声。“四天”指四禅天，佛教所谓色界诸天，即整个天空。两句意为，进入佛寺，所见一灯孤明，犹感四面静寂，只听到僧人夜里诵经的击磬声，悠然响在寂静的夜空中。末二句又承上启下，后写由于太冷清，太空寂，难免使人生出孤独惆怅之感，不便久留，只好出寺离归。山林多虎，使人生畏，“况闻岩下风”。俗谓“云从龙，风从虎”。闻风如见虎，使人更惊恐不安，欲离归而又难以回归。
全诗写灵隐寺的月夜景色，突出了山中佛寺的空幽冷寂，从而抒发了诗人孤独惆怅、处境难耐的心境。写法上，以景托情，情由景生，情景交融，水乳难分。

厉鹗（1692-1752），字太鸿，又字雄飞，号樊榭、南湖花隐等，钱塘（今浙江杭州）人，清代文学家，浙西词派中坚人物。康熙五十九年举人，屡试进士不第。家贫，性孤峭。乾隆初举鸿博，报罢。性耽闻静，爱山水，尤工诗馀，擅南宋诸家之胜。著有《宋诗纪事》、《樊榭山房集》等。
