牛焘（1794～1861）字涵万，丽江人，拔贡生，历任镇沅、安宁、邓川、罗平教官，有《寄秋轩稿》，家饶于赀而标寄萧然，蓄一雷氏琴，自谱新曲被之弦轸，同时马之龙能吹铁笛，郡中有“牛琴马笛”之目。咸、同之乱，焘避之山洞中，抱琴而死。剑川赵藩辑其诗七十余首刊入《丽郡诗征》中。
