背城借一的典故
春秋时，晋、鲁、卫三国，于晋主将郤克之统率下，将来攻之齐军打败。齐顷公遂遣大臣国佐往晋处求和，克乘机苛求诸多条件，佐严辞以对曰：“晋如欲和谈，齐愿献宝玉与归鲁、卫之地。若以此为挟，吾国唯将‘背城借一’矣。”鲁、卫二国之将孙行父与孙良夫从旁相劝，克终依齐之求而签订和约。 亦作“背城一战”。《明·余邵鱼·东周列国志·第二十回》：“世子华，年少方刚，请‘背城一战’。”
