战国时期，齐国雄辩家淳于髡问孟子男女之间不用手递受物品是礼，那么嫂子掉进水里，小叔子用手去救是礼吗？孟子认为是礼。淳于髡又说天下的人都掉进水里，你为什么不去救？孟子回答说应该用道去救，而不是用手去救。
