基本解释典出《列子 黄帝》：“子列子之齐，中道而反，遇伯昏瞀人。伯昏瞀人曰：‘奚方而反？’曰：‘吾惊焉。’‘恶乎惊？’‘吾食于十浆，而五浆先馈。’”谓十家卖浆者之中有五家争先送来。本谓卖浆者争利，后用以比喻争相设宴款待。

战国时期，子列子去齐国，到中途就折返，遇到伯昏瞀人。伯昏瞀人问他为什么这么快就返回了？子列子说他受惊了。伯昏瞀人问为什么受惊，子列子说他到一个地方十家酒店有五家争相宴请他，只好返回了。
